Sapphire Black Bongo 5 String

I wanted one the first time I saw them, and I had to wait nearly a year after that to get this one.

Oh, the others made fun of me and sent me threatening emails and ridiculed my desire for
a Bongo, but once I saw the photos from NAMM (Jan 2003), I knew there was a Bongo in my future.

In retrospect, I didn't know there were so MANY of them in my future, but okay.

The Bongo was a joint project between Ernie Ball and the BMW design group with input from selected bassists. The project was given the code name "Bongo", and, as time went by,
the name stuck. It became impossible to call it anything else. More info concerning history
and so on can be found at my "bongo information page".

These are available with different pickup configurations, but I really wanted the dual humbucker model right from the start. It turns out to have been a pretty good idea, although I'm now
busily exploring what the other combinations can do. It's hard to believe that I'm already
into my 3rd year of Bongo ownership...and I've had six or seven different models.

This one is Sapphire Black and came with the "black ice" model pickguard, which I then
changed to white pearloid and then, eventually, to tort - and the tort stuck. (Newer photos below.)
I bought this one in November 2003 from Bass Central in Florida, back when Gard
was still around the place.

Now, of course, I sell Ernie Ball products and will be glad to get you one just like this one,
only new and shiny. Plus you can have different pickup configurations, if you'd like.
Email me if you need a Bongo, a Stingray, a Sterling....

So I've had this one for over two years, and it isn't in any danger of going anywhere. As slutty
as I am with basses, that alone says a lot about how really amazing this bass is.
