Check the edges of the pickups - on the player side, there's a groove for your thumb. One of those little things that EBMM thinks of and you say, "Now I wish I'd thought of that." The concept really works. Also note the tone controls. The two lower knobs are stacked - one is high/low mids, the other is of course treble/bass. The mids controls are insane! Most bassists agree that mids can make all the difference in how your instrument sits in the mix, and this bass makes it simple to dial in the perfect mix of mids. The 4 band EQ! An idea whose time has come....

2003 Musicman Bongo

So I had this Bongo fiver already and people would ask me, "Is it more like a Stingray or a Sterling?"

I really didn't know. The fiver was a lot like a Stingray 5 as far as string spacing goes, but the Stingray 5 is really a big Sterling, so how could I answer? The only way to figure it out was to get a four string!

Well, Bob from Ohio had picked this one up quickly from Bass NW but really had his heart set on something else, so he dropped me a note and we quickly made a deal on this one with the cool finish.

As I write, I've just finished a four hour gig with this bass and it was absolutely fabulous. Three or four people actually commented on the bass (positively, dammit) and that almost never happens in a seedy biker bar filled with people intent on drinking and picking up dentally-challenged womenfolk.
