This is a
long story. It begins with two Logan Green Bongos that were shown
at NAMM a few years ago, and I wanted one - bad. Alas, it was
not to be as one went to an artist and the other was snagged
by Scott Ball. I eventually got the Flaming Biff Bongo, so I
had my green bass...but there was talk on the EBMM Forum. Certain
Forumites wanted their own green basses. John Worthington began
to go to large music instrument retailers and ask if they had
heard of the Martini Olive Green Jack Williams Signature Model
Bongo. (Some said they had.)
Anyway, I
maintained that green basses would sell.
Sterling Ball said I was smoking something.
Last year, during one of many late night phone calls, Sterling
says to me, "Let's see if you're right about green basses"
and he conferenced us with Scott and so it began.
What began
as "just a green bass" became what you see above, the
extremely limited edition "Dargie Delight" instruments.
Scott and the design team at EBMM took the concept and made it
even cooler than we green fanatics had imagined. The martini
inlays, the crazy green finish and an excellent martini glass
screened onto the back of the instruments really made these special.
